About Us
An umbrella organization of the following twelve Muslim School Proprietors of primary and secondary schools across Nigeria
The Council of Muslim School Proprietors is an umbrella organization of the following twelve Muslim School Proprietors of primary and secondary schools across the country.
At a meeting held on the 14th August 1955, it was decided that the Council should open Teacher Training Colleges for Elementary and Higher Elementary Teacher’s Certificate. The College was to be financed by the Council. To meet the cost of the project, a special contribution of 200 pounds per member organization was raised for the acquisition of 47.44 acres of land at Oru-Ijebu for Boy’s College and 50 acres of land at Abeokuta Girls’ College. The Council duly obtained Deeds of Conveyance for the properties from the vendors.
ACTIVITIES OF THE COUNCIL
The planned use of the Oru-Ijebu land after taking possession of the Council, in conjunction with the Ogun State Muslim Council, Ijebu Zone resolved to establish a tertiary institution. The initial proposal was to establish a Muslim University of Science and Technology but given the the capital-intensive nature of a university project, a Technical College of Education with emphasis on Agriculture was finally agreed as a prelude to the establishment of a university at a later date. In addition to the College of Education, a Muslim School of Nursing shall run side by side which shall be done through a joint venture with an investor/professional.
